Efforts to raise the profile of Leeds as a vibrant and internationally competitive city are charging ahead after Royal Armouries International plc (RAI) joined a scheme to attract investors and tourists to the city.

RAI plc, which provides conference facilities within the Royal Armouries Museum and SAVILES Hall at Clarence Dock, is investing £10,000 into Marketing Leeds, the City’s strategic marketing organisation. RAI become ‘Partner champions’ of Marketing Leeds.

Managing Director of RAI plc James V Vincent said: “I am thrilled that we have decided to increase our support for Marketing Leeds to help promote the City. The organisation is performing an outstanding function within the city to help position Leeds as a premier retail and leisure destination.

“Only by bringing together the private sector in the way Marketing Leeds does can we really offer visitors and businesses an exceptional experience of Leeds. The Champions Scheme is an excellent opportunity to share ideas, maximise opportunities and promote the Leeds brand to a wider audience and it is something I am excited about being involved in. I am incredibly passionate about Leeds, it has something to offer everyone and we want to be to the forefront of its success.”

As a Partner Champion, Mr Vincent also benefits from a place on the Marketing Leeds Board, which will inform the city’s overall marketing strategy. Board members will also act as advocates for Marketing Leeds within the city and fly the flag for Leeds externally.

Champions benefit from various networking opportunities and a high level of involvement in Marketing Leeds activities, including their international ‘Leeds in…’ events, ‘The Business of’ series, city festivals, including Leeds Loves Shopping, Leeds loves food and various media campaigns. Marketing Leeds also offers an option for organisations to support at an associate level too. X companies are currently on board.
